LADYBRIDGE PARK RESIDENTS CLUB
September 2020 Newsletter
The club is now open to a limited extent, serving drinks in the sports and resident’s bars and allowing sports usage in the large hall under strict conditions. It still feels very strange to everyone, having to adhere to these new rules, but doing so is enabling us to remain open to those who wish to use the facilities. We would stress, once again, the importance of the rules which we have put in place and which are displayed at the entrance to the club, and the need for everyone to comply with them.
Be assured that a strict cleaning regime is undertaken daily.
We would normally have had our annual meeting by now, but we feel that it is not possible to conduct such a gathering for the time being, under the rules regarding ‘social distancing’. However, we have now received last year’s accounts and are including a copy of the basic details with this letter. You will note that it would appear that we made a loss last year but this is not strictly true. We spent more on maintenance during the year compared to the previous year, and much of that was in fact paid for, not from regular income but from our residual capital. The Trustees continue to ensure the regular maintenance and repair of the fabric of the building while at all times keeping within the limitations of our budget.
The Trustees and staff continue to work hard to maintain the business and to bring in revenue wherever possible, without disrupting the amenities and provision for you the residents. While some of the regular groups and activities are not taking place at the moment, football matches are being shown on the large TV screens in both bars and the ‘meat raffle’ still takes place every Monday evening. We appreciate that this is a very limited usage, but other groups could meet provided that social distancing is maintained.
We will not be holding a MacMillan coffee morning this year, as we have for three years now, but Ann Gallo will be taking any donations anyone would like to make to support this worthy cause. If you would like to donate, please contact Ann in the office, or put your donation into an envelope with your details on and give it to Jakki, by 30th September.
Jakki and Harry have continued to provide Friday teas, firstly by home delivery only and now also to those who wish to eat in the club with their families in a more social atmosphere. We appreciate their efforts in trying to return to some sort of normality here at the club. If you wish to arrange a home delivery of your Friday teas, please ring Jakki directly on 077025 99082 to place your order. (You can also use this number to book a table to eat here in the club – booking is helpful though not essential).
We look forward to seeing activities back to normal in the club very soon.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, this event has had to be cancelled for this year.
All being well, it will be reinstated for 2021.
With our fantastic array of sporting facilities available to hire you'll find:
We also have a sports bar with Two Large Screen TV's and Projector TV showing a variety of Sports with pub games including Pool and Darts and a full selection of televised sports from BT Sport.
